Wittliff | Cutter, in coordination with The Survivors’ Project at the Lone Star Justice Alliance, is representing Martha Acevedo, a Texas mother and grandmother whose criminal conviction and 25-year prison sentence stems from her status as a domestic violence survivor.

Attorney Erin Eckhoff, with support from interns Nayeli Lara and Caroline Leal, has been working with Martha, her family, and other supporters to compile the materials necessary to submit an application for a full pardon under the relatively new process implemented by the State of Texas to consider clemency for domestic violence survivors like Martha.

The firm intends to submit Martha’s application early in 2023 and hopes that she will be released from prison—and returned to the loving and welcoming arms of her family—as soon as possible.
