Slade is an experienced technology attorney and one of the founding members of Wittliff Cutter. He has been providing practical legal solutions to companies doing business online, especially in the advertising technology space, since 2007. Slade represents online advertising networks, buyers and sellers of software, SaaS providers, ecommerce websites, lead generation companies, agencies, affiliate marketers, data vendors, and other companies in the digital ecosystem. He frequently drafts and negotiates network advertising agreements, software licensing agreements (including SaaS agreements), terms of use, privacy policies, and content distribution agreements. Drawing on his in-house experience, Slade also often serves as a “fractional general counsel” for small and midsize technology companies, handling day-to-day legal matters, including commercial leases, employment agreements, and corporate transactions and governance.

Slade began his legal career in 2002 as a law clerk for U.S. District Judge H. Dale Cook of the Northern District of Oklahoma, followed by an additional clerkship with U.S. Magistrate Judge Robert Pitman of the Western District of Texas. After his clerkships, Slade practiced law at a boutique litigation firm in Austin for two years before moving into the world of digital advertising as general counsel for Smiley Media, Inc., an online advertising network twice recognized on the Inc.500 list of fastest growing companies. Slade is also a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) and speaks frequently on privacy, advertising, and digital media topics.
